Catalogue Note
Roger Chapelain-Midy est surtout connu pour ses grands décors ; il a notamment réalisé les décorations murales du foyer du théâtre national de Chaillot, de la mairie du IVème arrondissement de Paris mais aussi du Museum d'Histoire Naturelle. Il participa à de nombreux décors dont celui du Palais des Congrès à Versailles ou encore celui des Jardins de la nouvelle Faculté des Sciences à Paris. Il travailla aux décors de plusieurs paquebots dont le France.
A partir de 1929 il commença à voyager et visita l'Argentine, le Pérou et la Bolivie puis l'Egypte, l'Inde, la Russie et l'Asie.
De très nombreux musées conservent des oeuvres de l'artiste dont celui d'Alger, de Tunis et du Caire .
