Catalogue Note
Charles Landelle se rendit à trois reprises en Egypte (1846 -1877 - 1881). Notre tableau date de son premier voyage. Ce portrait annonce le célèbre tableau Femme Fellah, peint en 1866 et acquis par l'Empereur. Cette oeuvre, détruite pendant la guerre de 1870, est connue par plusieurs répliques dont celle conservée au musée de Laval. Femme Fellah, l'un des plus beaux tableaux de Landelle, lui valut le surnom de "peintre des Fellah"
