Description

  • engraved chalice with saints
  • gilt silver and niello
inscribed on the base: IHS, MARIA and D.A.L.; in a wood box upholstered with black leather and blue velvet by Hardmann, Powell and Co Birmingham and with a fides consecrationis from the Archbishop of Westminster's office dated 17 Juni 1961

Condition

Overall the condition of the chalice is good. The cup, the bolt running through the core, the washer attached to the foot and the nut are later. Some of the other sections have been adjusted. There are a few stable fissures to the metal including one at the top of the base. There are a few minor dents to the niello work. There is wear to the edges of the box.
