Condition

The catalogue illustration is faithful to the original does not convey the rich and dynamic feel of the painting. The canvas has been relined but impasto is well preserved. A few small infilled losses are present. The paint surface is otherwise in good condition. Only minor scattered retouchings flouresce under UV light. Offered in good condition in a carved and gilt wood frame, also in good condition.

Catalogue Note

La raffinata natura morta qui presentata rivela evidenti analogie stilistiche e compositive con la pittura romana, e in particolare con le opere di Abraham Brueghel, Michelangelo Pace e Franz Werner von Tamm. Allo stesso tempo lo stile calligrafico, analitico, quasi oleografico, evidente nelle zucche in primo piano, rimanda alla cultura nordica, soprattutto veneta, e mostra molte tangenze con la produzione di Jacob van de Kerckhoven, detto Giacomo da Castello.
