  • An Apulian Red-figured Hydria
  • Height 13 3/4 in. 35 cm.
painted with two women flanking a stele resting on a plinth with meander decoration, the woman at left  holding a large branch and a fragmentary alabastron(?), a large phiale above the stele, another on the ground, encircling wave pattern below, a large palmette in back.

acquired in 1944
by descent to the present owner

Condition

Repaired from several fragments with areas of restoration along some of the joints, small patch of restoration on back shoulder
