  • A Bronze Aegis of the Goddess Isis
  • Height 8 in. 20.3 cm.
the goddess wearing a broad floral collar with winged scarab pectoral, frieze of uraei, and Horus head terminals, secondary beaded collar, striated tripartite wig, vulture headdress with uraeus, and diadem of uraei surmounted by the sun-disk and cow's horns, the eyes and eyebrows with remains of blue glass inlay.

Provenance

Edwin Fawer (1915-2006), Geneva, acquired in Paris prior to World War II, most likely at the Hôtel Drouot
by inheritance to the present owner

Condition

Proper right corner of broad collar broken off with area of heavy corrosion below break, tips of nose and uraeus rubbed, horns and sun-disk pitted and corroded, back of head corroded, otherwise very good.
