The canvas has a recent souns relining; the canvas is however not quite a s taught on the stretcher as it might be, notably towards the lower margin. The paint surface is, generally speaking, very well preserved. There are two apparent undertakings of restoration, the earlier comprising a small area of strengthening in the part of the blue dress in shadow, and a small resotration to the Madonna's right eyebrow. More recent restoration is noticable under ultra-violet light, with further retocuhings around the afore-mentioned area of blue drapery and pinpoint retouchings to the background and dthe drapery immediately below the neckline. The varnish is clear and evenly applied and the painting is in very good overall condition.
