Condition
The painting has been recently cleaned, relined and restored
There is an old horizontal canvas join running across the painting approx 5 cm down from the top edge.
The paint surface is sound if a little flattened.
Restoration work is relatively unobtrusive and well carried out although inspection under UV light does reveal a repaired vertical damage in the sky above the castle 23 cm long with a 9 cm long fork at the end, an old vertical damage of 18 cm running through the skirt of Artemis, a 46 cm vertical damage in the sky upper right, two other damages of 8 by 5 cm and 12 by 7 on either side right hand tree trunk and some scattered minor restored damages in the upper part of the sky the largest of which is 5 cm. There has also been some retouching work to the bear.
Offered in a painted and gilt carved wooden frame in good condition.
