Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 26 March 1965, lot 67 for 320 guineas to Singer.
Condition
Left hand illustration:
The canvas has been relined. Overall in good condition. There are no major damages or repairs and little or no sign of wear.
Inspection under UV light shows that the still life elements are well preserved, but their shadows and outlines have been substantially strengthened as has the brickwork behind. There are some repairs to the left margin and in the bottom right hand corner. The varnish layer is even bit dulled.
Right hand illustration:
As above. The background is in good condition and the craquelure has been touched out in the bodies of both dogs on the right hand side.
Both offered in stained wood and parcel gilt plaster frames in fair condition with some losses.
