Condition

The canvas has a secure relining. There are some areas where the paint surface has worn a little thin, in the lower right shadowed area and to the shading of the bowl for example. Retouchings are scattered throughout but are mostly confined to the lower half of the painting. On the faces there are only minor retouchings and restorations. The maidservants hands have undergone some intervention too. Overall the painting is in good condition, with a few well concealed and not serious restorations. Sold with a later ebony and parcel gilt cassetta frame, in good condition.
