Condition

The actual painting is a little softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single flat oval panel is in good condition and lightly bevelled along the edges. The paint surface is under a somewhat yellowed varnish. No damages are apparent. Some minor retouching can be observed in the sky, but otherwise, the paint surface appears well preserved. Inspection under UV light reveals very few tiny retouchings and minor strengthening in the outlines of the ships, castle and figures. In general, in overall good condition. Offered in a plain wood frame with tortoise shell inlay in good condition.
