Condition

The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is flat and stable and bevelled on all sides. No damages are apparent. The paint surface is secure and under a reasonably clear layer of varnish. A few tiny scattered retouchings can be observed in the sky. Under UV light more extensive retouchings become apparent in the background, as well as strengthening in the figure and barrel lower right. Offered in a wood frame with a decorative gilt fillet in good condition. (MW)
