Condition
The actual painting is deeper in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel consists of two horizontal planks, and is beveled on all sides. The panel has a faint convex bow. The paint surface appears to be in good condition, if a little abraded in the background, and is under a fairly clear layer of varnish. The join has been retouched and furthermore, small scattered retouchings are visible, e.g. in the upper background and in the group of figures on the left. Inspection under UV light reveals additional scattered recent retouchings.
Offered in a plain lacquered wood frame in good condition. (MW)
