Description
- Theodoor Rombouts
- A group of figures around a table making music
- oil on canvas
Condition
The catalogue illustration is representative for the actual painting. The canvas has an old effective relining. The paint surface is secure, if a little abraded in the background, and is under a slightly dirty and glossy layer of varnish. There's a fine and dense craquelure throughout. No major damages are visible to the naked eye. Some discoloured retouchings are visible to the background. Inspection uner UV light is largely impeded by the thick varnish layer, but does reveal some tiny retouchings in the faces of the figures on the right. There are possibly some older retouchings underneath the varnish.
Offered in a decorative gilt plaster and carved wood frame, in fair condition.
