Description

  • The presentation in the temple
  • oil on panel

Condition

The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel consists of two vertical planks and is uncradled. The retouched join is clearly visible to the front. Retouched paint losses are visible along the upper edge, and additional retouchings can be observed in centre right along the right edge, lower right, and in the centre. Under UV light additional scattered retouchings and strenghtenings in the figures can be made out. There's a very fine and dense craquelure throughout and the paint surface is under a slightly dirty layer of varnish. Offered in a plain wood frame with numerous paint losses. (MW)
