Description

  • Madonna del pappagallo
  • olio su tavola

Condition

The colours in the catalogue are representative of those in the painting. The painting is made up of three vertical panels and presents two battens on the reverse as a support. The panel retains its original thickness and has a slight convex bow. The painting is mounted in an old carved gilt frame, probably cut to fit the painting. To the naked eye some paint losses are apparent in the lower left corner, as well as some areas of repair underneath and above the angel to the right, above the Madonna’s head and on her cheek. Restoration is also visible on the crack corresponding to the joint of the panels. The painting is covered by an old dirty varnish and it would benefit from a cleaning.
