The painting is less red in tones than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has been relined and it is mounted in a plain gilt and painted XVII Century-style frame. To the naked eye no major restoration or damages are visible, only a slight vertical relief corresponding to a probable joint in the middle of the canvas. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals areas of repair along the margins of the painting, restoration on the joint and other minor scattered on the composition. In our opinion the painting is in good condition
