Description
- Tiberio Titi
- Ritratto di gentiluomo con il figlio
- olio su tavola, senza cornice
Condition
The colours in the catalogue are representative of those in the painting.
The panel is made up of three vertical planks, supported by a baton on the reverse.
The panel is 1.5 cm thick, presenting worms tunnels on the reverse, and has a slight convex bow.
The painting is offered unframed.
To the naked eye a crack, corresponding with the joint of the planks, is visible in the upper margin, interfering with the left temple of the sitter, as the catalogue illustration suggests as well. Two repairs are slightly visible on the child right temple, interfering with its ear and hair, and on the left hand of the father.
The thick varnish layer impedes clear inspection under ultra-violet light but two marginal areas of pictorial retouching are apparent, one in the background near the upper margin of the panel and a major one along the lower margin.
