Condition

Both re-gilt, repainted in the later 19th century and with the tops and bases repainted underneath, both with new wooden blocks fixing the tops to the supports. Both with feet of a later date. THE FIRST ONE: Top: With several cracks, from side to side, with losses of painting surface, showing the gesso underneath, with stucco restorations, the largest one cm 15x5. The support: Several widespread losses to the gilding, wood worming, vertical cracks and minor losses of wood throughout. The central leaf, above the base, with a horizontal crack at the joint of the support. The base: With several horizontal cracks, losses of painting surface specially on the edges. The feet: Distressed, with wide losses showing the gesso and the wood underneath. THE SECOND ONE: With a general state of condition situation similar to the first one described above. The central shell with the three central end substituted for cm 21x3. Wide re-gilding throughout.
