Description
- a pair of battle scenes between Christians and Ottomans
a pair, both oil on canvas (only one of pair illustrated)
Condition
Both canvases have been relined and this has flattened the paint surfaces somewhat. The paint surfaces are clean and under a thick varnish. The canvases have been extended at the edges so that what were, presumably, hexagon-shaped canvases are now almost square. UV light reveals some scattered retouchings under the varnish and later paint where the canvases were extended.
Offered in later plain frames.
