Provenance
With Mr. Carn (according to an old label on the reverse);
Owen Longstaff Senoir (according to an old label on the reverse).
Owen Longstaff Senoir (according to an old label on the reverse).
Exhibited
Barnard Castle, November 1834, no. 2105 (according to an old label on the reverse).
Condition
The relining of the canvs has rather flattened the paint surface. The paint surfacer is dirty and under under a yellowed varnish. Discoloured retouchings and areas of restoration are visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV light reveals some recent scattered retouchings but the thick varnish prevents analysis of the older retouchings. The painting would benefit from a clean. Offered in a wood and plaster frame with some knocks.
