Probably inherited from the deceased's father-in-law, Constantine Benson, Shawford Park, Hants.
Condition
The canvas has an old relining.
The paint surface is secure with craquelure throughout. Scattered retouchings are visible to the naked eye, most notably in the sky. Inspection under UV light confirms these and reveals further older and more recent retouchings in some of the areas where the craquelure is worse.
Offered in a carved gilt wood frame with some minor knocks.
