Description

  • The Archangel Michael

Condition

The canvas has suffered some significant damages which have been patched up on the reverse. There is a vertical seam running the length of the canvas, approximately 30 cm in from the right margin. Most of the damages are confined to the area to the right of this seam and constitute large damages and tears, all of which have been restored. The canvas to the left of the seam is in a far better state of preservation although it too has some damages, notably in the upper background. There are areas of retouching throughout, for example in the tunic and legs and there are some large areas of wear, in the wings and background.
