School of Ferrara, mid-16th Century

The canvas has a wax lining which is stable. There is an old restored tear in the centre left background and some restorations along the extreme left hand margin. There is another restored damage directly above the central uppermost figure and further retouchings all around it. The sky has undergone some wear and resultant strengthening, notably immediately beneath God, and the blue draperies have also been randomly strengthened. Overall the painting is in fair condition and would be improved with careful restoration.
