Description

  • Lello da Orvieto
  • Saint Anthony of padua with a donatrix kneeling to the right
  • oil on panel, gold ground, shaped top

Condition

The panel seems to consist of one plank and is cradled. The paint surface is somewhat abraded in the Saint's robe, and is under a dirty layer of varnish. A thin retouched split is visible in the upper centre above the head, and in this area there's a minor tendency towards cupping. Otherwise, no major damages are apparent. Small scattered retouchings can be observed in the cloak. Under UV light very few tiny ones are made out in the Saint's face, and more extensive retouchings in the cloak. Offered in a plain gilt wood frame, with minor damage to the lower left corner. (MW)
