Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel is flat with two slightly unstable horizontal joins with raised paint along them. The paint layer is stable with pronounced horizontal wood grain visible in raking light. Substantial over painting of the sky can be detected; an original blue is in evidence beneath this over paint. The paint to the foreground is less interfered with, although the path over the bridge has been over painted. The pale wood grain is visible along with one or two minor losses. The varnish is discoloured, removing it would improve the tonality. Offered in a gilt wood frame, in good condition."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
