The canvas has a recent relining. The paint surface appears to be well preserved, if a little abraded in the brown tones lower right, and is under a dirty layer of varnish. There's a fine and dense craquelure throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals a repaired scratch to the centre left and a repaired small damage to the background centre right. Furthermore, a few small scattered retouchings and strengthenings fluoresce under UV light, e.g. in the flute, in the coat lower centre, and in the boy's ear. Offered in a gilt plaster and wood frame with a few damages. (MW)
