Catalogue Note
The composition derives from the original by Francesco Pittoni in the Schlosskirche, Württemberg (see F.Z. Boccazzi, Pittoni, Venice 1979, pp. 111-112, no. 4). The handling of the present version indicates that it may be by an Austrian hand, possibly an artist such as Daniel Gran (Vienna 1694-1757 St. Pölten).
