School of Bruges, first half of the 16th Century

The support consists of a single, flat, stable panel, bevelled on all four sides. The paint surface is fairly abraded but secure and under a dirty varnish which impedes thorough inspection under UV light. There is a restored surface damage approx 2.5 cm squared to the left of the Virgin's head in the tree truck which is visible in the catalogue illustration and fluoresces under UV light. Offered in a northern style painted wooden frame in fair condition although slightly rubbed.
