Catalogue Note
Previous suggestions regarding the attribution of this drawing have ranged from Johann Rottenhammer to Jan Luyken. On stylistic grounds, the drawing would seem to date from the middle of the 17th century, and there are some similarities with certain print designs by Gerbrand van den Eeckhout.
