Condition

Unframed. Vertical crease in centre and several horizontal creases. Repaired tear, bottom centre and slightly thin in both right corners. Brown stain, lower right corner and various other light brown stains throughout, but otherwise ink good and strong.

Catalogue Note

The unidentified patron seems not to have been a Swiss citizen, as he does not wear a Swiss dagger.  Thöne has, however, suggested that he must have been a butcher ,on the basis of the cleaver that surmounts his coat of arms.
