Condition
Canvas is loosely lined. Large tears and losses in the lower half, which lift from the lining; horizontal tears at center of left edge and lifting from lining. The right corner is severed. Surface is very dark with sunk colors. Under UV light: opaque varnish but retouches are visible to laurel wreath on the head and the book at lower left.
