Condition

Relined. A restored big tear on the back side. The picture requires a cleaning. Under ultraviolet light: There is a former restoration on the right shoulder of the character.

Catalogue Note

Jean-Conrad Hottinguer (1764-1841) fut le premier gouverneur de la Banque de France. Il fut aussi nommé juge du Tribunal de Commerce et en 1808, membre du Conseil Général du Commerce. Il épousa Martha Elisa Redwood (voir lot 73). Régent de la Banque de France et Baron de l'Empire, il fut le fondateur de la banque Hottinguer et à l'origine du compte courant.
