Condition

Good overall condition. Original canvas. There are several very small lacks (visible on the reproduction) under the signature, a little lack on the centre part of the vase and some small lacks along the edges. Two small tears on the right-hand side of the sky-area. Under ultraviolet light: No visible repaints.

Catalogue Note

Peintre américain, il étudia l'architecture à l'Institut de Technologie de Boston. En 1884, il s'installa à Paris où il fut élève de Gervais à l'Académie Julian, puis visita l'Italie. Il est surtout connu pour ses natures mortes et ses paysages fleuris. Des tableaux d'Abbott Graves sont conservés au Portland Museum of Arts, USA.
