London, 1940, first edition, 8vo, photographic plates (reproducing 3 of the photographs present here), original cloth, dust-jacket, ownership stamp on title and preliminary blank, binding discoloured and bowed, dust-jacket torn
Condition
Overall the prints are in very good condition, occasional minor signs of handling including very light surface scuffing, one print with small circular patch of discoloration to surface of upper edge, one print with a few slight nicks to emulsion to left hand edge. Mounts are in very good condition, just minor handling marks.

Catalogue Note
The photographs include views of Kamet and the Mana Pass in the Himalayas. Meade (1881-1975) climbed extensively in the Himalayas and Alps often accompanied by his guide, Pierre Blanc (d.1966). In particular, he made a number of early attempts on Kamet, camping overnight in 1913 at Meade's Col, at a height of 7,138 metres and was an original member of the Mount Everest Committee
