Catalogue Note

The Tokaido (East Sea Road) was the most important of the five routes of the Edo period, connecting modern day Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto in Japan. The first section depicts the city and bay of Edo and second section the route within sight of the snow-capped mountain of Fuji San.
