Catalogue Note
a fine, large paper, copy of "this important work" (Blackmer).
Pashley spent most of 1834 in Crete visiting almost every village, monastery and ancient site, and on his return journey home spent time in the Venetian archives researching the historical appendix to his travels. The work was well received but many copies were lost in a fire at the Temple, London, in 1838.
