Catalogue Note
This first translation of the Qur'an into German was made by Salomon Schweigger from the Italian edition of 1547. Schweigger had travelled to Constantinople in 1577 as chaplain to the entourage of Joachim von Sintzendorf, ambassador of the Holy Roman Empire to the Porte.
