Catalogue Note

a good copy of Hobhouse's account of a tour made with his friend Lord Byron in 1809 and 1810. It is an important source for that period in Byron's life, the intellectual movement prior to the outbreak of the Greek insurrection and for its depiction of life in the court of Ali Pasha, with whom Hobhouse stayed in 1809. Much of volume 2 relates to Turkey.
