Catalogue Note

This copy of the Seventh Nocturne bears the published dedication of 1899 to Fauré's then mistress the pianist-composer Adela Maddison and also his autograph presentation inscription to Marguerite Hasselmans, who met him in 1900 and became his mistress for the remaining twenty-four years of his life. The list of Fauré's Nocturnes on the title ends with the present work and later works are not mentioned.
