Honegger (6 autograph letters and typed letters signed, about the Boston Symphony Orchestra, on the death of Einstein and other matters), Cocteau (autograph letter signed to Michel [de Bry], a paean in praise of Honegger, discussing 'Les Six' and asking that the Académie remember the 'seventh man'), Milhaud, Sauguet (7 autograph letters signed, a 4-page manuscript of a talk, a 7-page autograph manuscript of a talk, 2 autograph self-portrait drawings, a facsimile edition of Sept Chansons de l'alchimiste, signed by Sauguet and Raphaël Cluzel, and a copy of a manuscript of his song "Le pli cacheté"), Pierre Gaxotte, Florent Schmitt, Auric, Albert Schweitzer, Lord Harewood, Menuhin, Charles Boyer, Robert Oppenheimer, Mitterand, Ginette Keller, Mihalovici; the collection includes over 40 photographs showing members of the Académie, including Honegger, Milhaud, Colette, Sauguet, Cocteau and Albert Schweitzer; also including a score of Chausson's Concerto Op.21, signed by Menuhin, Kentner and members of the Pascal Quartet, and a typed letter signed by Thomas Edison to Mr. A Verne of the Cie. Catalogue Note
The Académie du Disque Français was founded in Paris in 1951 by Colette, Maurice Yvain, Jean Fayard, the poet Guy-Charles Cros, son of the inventor of the phonograph. Its founding president was Arthur Honegger and it included among its ranks other composers, men of letters, such as Cocteau, critics and discophiles. Einstein, a gifted amateur violinist had been a member of the Académie du Disque from September 1954 until his death in April 1955. Honegger died later the same year on 27 November.
