  • Good collection, including a caricature of Beecham by Caruso and autograph letters
the caricature signed ("Enrico Caruso"), in pencil, showing Beecham in profile, 16 x 9.5cms, on the back of an inscribed menu card, Midland Hotel, Manchester, 13 September 1909, small crease; the together with some 30 autograph letters to Beecham and Lady Beecham by Vaughan Williams (about In the Fen Country in 1909), Ethyl Smyth (about The Wreckers), Charles Wood, Maud Cunard (mother of Nancy), Charlotte Shaw (2), Henry Wood, Harry Lauder, Baron J J Astor and others, a sale catalogue of the collection of Sir Joseph Beecham, and other printed items, c.1903-c.1943

Catalogue Note

Beecham conducted  the premiere of In the Fen Country on 22 February 1909.  He also had a strong working relationship with Dame Ethyl Smyth
