Description
- Fine autograph letter signed ("F. Liszt"),
reporting the performance of Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri, with the fine singing of Frau von Milde, explaining that she caused a sensation and was the toast of Aachen during his concerts at the Lower Rhine Festival at the beginning of June, pointing out that even in the Köllner Zeitung, which had treated him ungraciously for a number of years now, Ferdinand Hiller had dipped his pen in the purest "eau-de-cologne" to describe her performances; Liszt also reports recovering from his exertions there by repairing to his bed, and also the indisposition of Princess Carolyne Sayn-Wittgenstein ("Frau Fürstin"), who will be confined to bed for another two weeks at least, 4 pages, small 4to (c.21 x 16cms), annotated with the place and date in another hand [Weimar, 22 June 1857]

Catalogue Note
