  • Early nineteenth-century French manuscript, containing a hand-coloured map of the Siege of Cadiz in 1810, signed by the artist Pierre Neveu,
titled "Journal ou Déscription Du Combat Donné entre Les Français et Les Espagnols en Rivière de la Caraque Le Mois de Juin 1808", the map signed by the artist ("...fait par mois Pre Neveu Le 6 Janvier 1810..."), depicting the position of the French and Spanish vessels during the battle, the journal describing the conflict between the French and Spanish fleets between 18 May 1808 and 26 February 1809, including the role of the British commander [John Child Purvis] (..."L'Amiral Anglais Commandant les force navalles de sa majesté Brique..."), in saving the Spanish fleet from capture by the French, together with, at the end, transcriptions of two letters and other documents, also including a 12-page inserted section in the same hand on different paper, 74 pages, 4to (218 x 160mm.), with the large folding coloured map of the Siege of Cadiz (c. 480 x 580mm., on Dutch paper), inscribed card wrappers covered with fragments of manuscript, Cartier St Charles, 6 January 1810
