Catalogue Note
first edition of one of two ballets written by Lotti and Tosi to mark the marriage of Odoardo Farnese with Dorothea Sophia, princess of Pfalz-Neuburg. The spectacles were performed in the Teatro Farnese in the Palazzo della Pilota in Parma, which was used only nine times between 1628 and 1723 for special occasions such as this; the scenography was designed by Ferdinando and Francesco Galli da Bibiena (see lot 210).
