Catalogue Note

first edition. Da Monte (1498-1551) was professor of clinical medicine at the University of Padua, where he had been a fellow student of Vesalius's. Costantini specialised in medical books and published many of da Monte's works, many of which were commentaries on the writings of canonical authors such as Galen, Avicenna and Hippocrates. For the text of Rhazes, see lot 171.
