Catalogue Note

Próle de Bébé no. 2 (1921), Rudepoêma and Chôros no.5 (Alma brasileira) were Villa Lobos's first important works for the piano.  The American pianist Aline Isabelle van Barentzen (1897-1981) was a pupil of Marguerite Long, Dohnányi and Leschetizky; she won first prize at the Paris Conservatoire at the age of eleven.
