  • Autograph manuscript of "Mi lagnerò tacendo", signed and inscribed at the end ("Florence ce 29 Fév[rier?] 1849 Gioachino Rossini")
the song for voice and piano notated in brown ink on four three-stave systems, with autograph dedication at head ("Madame C. Benoit Champy"), 13 bars in all, 1 page, 4to (26.9 x 20.8cm), 12-stave paper, on an album leaf, floral vignette to upper left-hand corner of leaf, mounted at the corners on paper

Catalogue Note

A good example of Rossini's setting of this Metastasian text, written on the composer's fifty-seventh birthday. Born on 29 February (Leap Year Day) 1792, Rossini often joked that he was therefore technically much younger.
