This pair of chandeliers is based upon the celebrated model circa 1780, with infant musicians, now at Versailles, illustrated by Verlet, op. cit., p. 92, fig.101. Another model is at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Verlet also illustrates, op. cit., p. 340, fig. 364, a detail of an identical 19th century chandelier by Beurdeley from one of the last sales from the Beurdeley collection, sold on 16th May 1979, Oger, Orsay, lot 61 and states , `Un travail que l'on peut qu' admirer'.
