Catalogue Note

This table in the Louis XV style is reminiscent of the designs of Roumier, who was an 18th century French ornamental sculptor and furniture designer and by 1720 is recorded as working for the Bâtiments du Roi; in 1721 he became sculptor du roi and worked at the Royal palaces and châteaux  on boiseries and other carved wood fittings though independent from Jules Dugoulon (active 1689-1730) and his assistants. His work is more fanciful than theirs although difficult to distinguish from furniture made around the same date by the Slodtz brothers.
